AI for SME Directors

AI is a major productivity and growth opportunity for small and medium enterprises. Used well, it can reduce administrative load, improve customer experience, strengthen sales and market insight, and give skilled teams more capacity for high-value work.

The commercial upside does not arrive automatically. AI can also expose customer and employee data, create unreliable claims, lock a business into weak vendors, or consume scarce time and working capital without producing measurable value. Directors need enough practical understanding to distinguish a useful capability from a fashionable tool.

This course is built for the people accountable for that balance. It gives directors a clear language for AI, a commercial framework for prioritising use cases, and a proportionate governance approach suited to SME resources and implementation capacity.

Who it is for

Board directors and owners of Australian SMEs. The course is designed for businesses that want to adopt AI faster without outrunning their strategy, governance, data, or people. No technical background is assumed.

Format

Six course modules and three in-person half-day workshops, with up to 20 people in the intake. The April 2027 workshops are on Tuesday 6 April, Tuesday 20 April and Tuesday 4 May, 9:00 am–1:00 pm AWST at St Catherine’s College, 2 Park Road, Crawley WA. Between sessions, work through the modules and practical board assignments to build a 12-month AI roadmap. An in-house option is available for larger leadership teams.
